The 8 Best Inspirational Staycation Quotes

Her Adventures | Staycation quotes

Everyone is talking about staycations! Why, you wonder. What’s so special about staycations? In this article, we’ll give you a quick overview of what a staycation is. Our inspiring staycation quotes will remind you exactly why staying home can be such a good thing.

What is a staycation?

The word ‘staycation‘ is assembled from the words ‘stay’ and ‘vacation’. It’s a holiday spent at home. But what does that mean? It can mean a lot of things, as a matter of fact! You can stay home and enjoy your immediate surroundings. You can explore your home town. Or your home state, and even your home country! In this article we have collected the most inspiring staycation quotes for you, and we will explain how their meaning will make your holiday at home perfect when you explore locally.

When in doubt…

You are in need of some time off, and you are not sure what to do. When in doubt, staycation! It’s one of the smartest staycation quotes. There are many reasons why a staycation could be just what you need.

It’s a lot cheaper and less hassle than hopping on a plane to some exotic location. You aren’t spending money on accommodations, transportation and countless meals in restaurants (unless you want to). No travel time to your destination means you get to use those extra days to relax and recover. You can make the most of your days because you won’t have jetlag. Choose to spend time with your favorite people, or take the chance to completely decompress and tell them you are unavailable during your staycation. Take this time and rediscover the place you call home!

Beautify your home

If you have been inspired by the first of our staycation quotes, and you decided to spend your staycation at home, put some energy into making your home fabulous beforehand. Start with deep cleaning. The less there is to do during your staycation, the happier you will be. Preparation is key. You may want to think about items that may elevate your home and your staycation experience. Any item that adds to your comfort and convenience is a hot candidate! Last, think about something that would bring you joy. Fresh flowers? A new painting? A new area rug? The possibilities are endless! Take these staycation quotes as an inspiration to beautify your home!

Time to think about food

Girls Who Travel | Staycation

This is one of my favorite staycation quotes. Staycation calories don’t count. Or do they? In any case, you should spoil yourself a little on your staycation. You would do the same if you were on vacation, after all. There are several ways to do this. It all depends on how much time, effort or money you want to spend.

Travel by food

Do you love to cook? Then consider travel by food! Get a fancy recipe from a foreign country, find all the ingredients (just this can be an adventure sometimes!), turn up the music and get cooking! You could go to Hawaii for lunch, and to Brazil for dinner. How fun is that?

Find foreign cuisine in your home town

If you are anything like me, you go to the same restaurant over and over and always order the same dish. I can’t blame you. Routine and consistency can be nice. But your staycation is the time to break free of old habits. What is your number one bucket list destination? Can you find a restaurant that offers cuisine from that country in your home town, or even close by? Venture out and have a culinary adventure!

Venture into the unknown

You are stuck in the same old routine every single day. You take the same roads to work, to the gym, to your favorite café. Why not change things up a bit? Find out what has changed in your home town? Maybe they built a new park? Is there a forest nearby that you never go to? Why not take a detour on the way to the store? It may be a little longer, but who knows what there is to discover!

Offline for the weekend

Let this one of our favorite staycation quotes inspire you to shut off your tech devices for a bit. It doesn’t have to be a whole weekend. But these days, where we are always expected to be available, it is crucially important for our mental health to take time and do a digital detox. This may be hard in the beginning. Start small. Put your phone aside for one hour. Focus on you. Do something that brings you peace and happiness. Read a book, go for a walk. Be present. You will feel oddly restored afterwards and ready to dive back into the world.

Take a break from people

These days it’s easy to slide from controversy to controversy. Being around people can be exhausting, especially if you, like me, are an introvert. Which is why ‘I like to stay in bed. It’s too peopley outside.’ is one of my favorite staycation quotes. We already talked about digital detox. But sometimes it can be nice to just spend a day in bed and let people be people. If that is part of your mental health routine, don’t be shy and incorporate it into your staycation!

There’s no place like home

Girls Who Travel | Holiday at home

Sounds like one of these pretty cheesy staycation quotes, doesn’t it? If you are perfectly honest though, there’s some truth to it. Even if you go on an adventure to the most exotic location, home is where you always come back to to relax and recharge. It’s your safe place, your shelter from the storm. There’s no good reason to not make it your vacation destination as well!

Nothing to do

Let’s face it: our lives are way too hectic. Do you really want to go on vacation, where you feel the constant need to go do something, since you paid good money to be here? Maybe, but sometimes it’s nice to not have to do anything. We have talked about the value of staycation prep work earlier. Make sure all chores are done before you start your staycation, so that the only thing you have to do is exactly nothing.

We hope you found some inspiration in these staycation quotes. While 2021 has been the true year of staycations, don’t forget that there’s no wrong time or place to enjoy one!
