Mending a broken heart is never easy.
Often times, you didn’t just lose a person — you’ve also lost the future you’ve imagined. The sudden absence of connection can feel like a withdrawal and ultimately turns into an all-consuming shift in how you live your day-to-day life including your regular routine.
My solution? Get the hell out of wherever you are and seek a change of scenery.
Here’s a list of the best places to travel with a broken heart, from partying to meditation down to soul-searching:
Party & Distraction
If you ask me, sometimes, the best quick fix is to drown in loud music, get lost in a realm of strangers, and be forced to avoid overthinking by way of overstimulation.
Ibiza, Spain

Ah, well, the party place. I try to avoid it when I can because it can get too much but sometimes, too much is just what you need. If you think it’s overrated — think again, because it might just be the place that saves you from your shattered heart.
Ibiza gives you only the most legendary clubs, all-day beach parties, and some of the best DJs in the world. Here, you can beach it in the day and party it at night. Making it one of the best places to travel with a broken heart. It literally keeps you too busy to think about your grief. You get non-stop distraction, a never-ending social scene, and a potential to find life-long friends like I have!
Tulum, Mexico

Tulum is perfect for beach bars, jungle raves, and a more laid-back crowd compared to Ibiza. Here, you can party at night and explore cenotes and Mayan ruins during the day. Nothing soothes a broken heart like a mix of adventure, distraction, and just the right amount of hedonism.
Tulum is the perfect escape — the time you’ll spend exploring the cenotes and ancient ruins will make you realise that your broken heart are just a tiny blip in time compared to the rich history Mexico has. At night, the jungle raves will cure your broken heart momentarily by dancing your emotions away. The perfect balance of losing yourself so you can find yourself.
Healing & Meditation
If you prefer peace and quiet, I have these places to help you reset instead.
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

For me, Ubud is the gentle way to heal — a reset for the soul making it one of the best places to travel to with a broken heart.
Ubud is about sitting with it, understanding it, and transforming it. Feel the pain, my friend. Join a yoga retreat to help you reconnect with yourself and let the lush green rice fields and flowing rivers remind you that life moves forward, no matter what.
Here, you will wake up to the sound of nature, nourish yourself with only the freshest crops and protein, while you learn to let go through breathwork, mindfulness, and maybe even a little journaling on the side.
Rishikesh, India

In Rishikesh, you don’t just get over a broken heart — you grow from it.
As the birthplace of yoga, people flock here to turn their heartbreak into spiritual growth. My suggestion is to stay in an ashram, where you can wake up to sunrise meditations and let the sacred chants of the Ganges cleanse you from the inside out.
You can partake in rituals on the river, join a silent retreat, and immerse yourself in days filled with introspection to help you in your journey to rebirth. Here, it’s not about distraction, it’s facing your emotions head-on. You’ll thank me for it, one day.
Solo Adventure & Self-Discovery
If partying and meditating don’t cut it, get lost instead. My personal favourite and choice.
Kyoto, Japan

Kyoto is for the broken heart that needs grace.
Over here, you won’t get wild partying, no intense back-breaking transformation, just the quiet beauty that you probably really need. You can be reminded that everything is fleeting, including pain. You can start the day wandering through ancient temples, sitting in perfectly raken Zen gardens, and end the day sipping matcha in a traditional tea house.
You will heal through stillness as you slow down, accept reflection, and finally soothe your soul.
Patagonia, Chile/Argentina

And finally, Patagonia is for the broken heart that needs space.
No beach bars, no yoga retreats, no ancient temples, just you and the raw wilderness. This is where you go to hike and push your limits. The challenge is to force you to focus on the present — one step, one breath, and one climb at a time. I can’t think of anything better, to be honest.
If you ask me, heartbreak feels smaller when you’re standing beneath a jagged peak or watching the sunrise over an untouched valley. The silence is so profound that its vastness will evoke the realisation that the world is much bigger than your pain.
So, get out there, girl. Heal that broken heart. And don’t ever look back.
