Due to the global pandemic, many in our travel community are in isolation. For many of us, introverts and extroverts, this can be incredibly stressful and it can be hard to care for your physical and mental well being when you’re alone. Here are 10 tips for self-care in quarantine.
10 Tips for Self-Care in Quarantine
1. Stick to a schedule.
The easiest way to do this is to set an alarm so that you wake up at the same time every morning and also observe regular meal times.
2. Observe your regular grooming habits.
Take a shower every morning. Wash your hair every other day. Brush your teeth, girl! It’ll go a long way to helping you feel normal and less sluggish.
3. Wear clean clothes.
It’s tempting to wear the same pair of sweatpants over and over but it’s better to rotate your sweatpants so that you’re always wearing fresh clothes. You’ll feel better, so make this an integral part of your self-care in quarantine.
4. Give yourself two or three things to do every day that aren’t in front of a screen
They don’t have to be big things, but it will help you stay motivated. For instance: do a load of laundry, wash the dishes, organize your sock drawer… you get the idea!
5. Open a window to air out your living space and to get some fresh air!
Getting a whiff of fresh air can do wonders for your mind and body when you’re cooped up indoors all day.
6. Talk to someone outside of your house once a day.
Not over text, although it’s good to stay in touch with people any way that you can. Actually pick up the phone and call someone to talk to them.
7. Check in on your other friends.
They might be worried or scared – send a text message or an email just to say hi. Think about how nice it would be if you got a note like that from someone! This should be part of your self-care in quarantine.
8. Don’t over indulge.
Don’t over eat, don’t binge
, don’t sleep too much… you get the idea. With endless amount of time in front of you, it’s hard to pull yourself out of that funk.
9. Get some exercise.
It could be jumping jacks, or playing with your dog, or a free workout video on YouTube
. Whatever it is, get up and get moving for at least 30 minutes a day. We are big fans of yoga
Even if you’re not a journaler – just do it. You don’t need a fancy notebook. Use the notepad on your phone or some scratch paper. Use this time to reflect and get centered. Life is a rat race – embrace this time to get quiet and reflect!
