As we continue on our journey of isolation, we finally get a taste of what our dogs endure day after mundane day. Sitting at home dreaming of adventures, staring out of the windows wishing we could go exploring, and napping too much because what else is there really to do. Feeling guilty? We are. Maybe it’s time we make our canine pals an apology snack?! Treat your pup now! Here are a few of my doggos’ favorite pup treats!
Treat Your Pup With Homemade Snacks

Sweet Potato Chews
- Wash your sweet potatoes and peel if desired.
- Slice into 1/4 inch thick slices.
- Bake for 3 hours at 250F.
Blueberry Balls
- Cover a baking tray with parchment.
- In a bowl mix together 3/4 cup of peanut butter and 1/4 cup of vegetable or chicken stock. Add in 1 1/4 cups rolled oats and 3/4 cup blueberries.
- Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls and place on baking tray.
- Chill for 1 – 3 hours.
Frozen Peanut Butter Pup Treats

- Mix together 1/2 cup of peanut butter, 1 cup of plain yogurt and 2 tbsp of vegetable or chicken broth.
- Distribute evenly in an ice cube tray or mold of your choice.
- Freeze for a minimum of 12 hours.
Applesauce, Carrots, Oats…Oh My
- Preheat the oven to 350F and cover a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a bowl mix together 1/2 cup old fashioned oats, 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce, 1/2 cup finely grated carrots, and 1/2 cup unbleached or whole wheat flour.
- Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls and place onto the baking tray.
- Bake for 18 – 20 minutes.
Peanut Butter Treats

- Preheat oven to 350F.
- In a bowl mix flour, peanut butter and apple sauce in a large mixing bowl. Add stock and stir until well combined. (Expect the dough to be thick.) Form into a ball.
- Place the dough ball on a flat surface and roll out evenly with a rolling pin, add flour if needed. Roll out until the dough is 1/4 inch thick. Use desired cookie cutter and place on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for 18 minutes or until golden brown.
Veggie Pup Treats
- Preheat oven to 350F and cover a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a bowl mix together 1 cup pumpkin puree, 1/4 cup peanut butter and 2 eggs until well combined.
- Gradually add 1/2 cup old fashioned oats and 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour. Add an additional 1/4 cup flour at a time until dough is no longer sticky. Add 1 shredded carrot, 1 shredded zucchini, and 1 cup chopped baby spinach until incorporated.
- Place dough on lightly floured surface and knead the dough until it comes together. Roll out until the dough is 1/4 inch thick. Use desired cookie cutter and place on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for 20 – 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Apple Pretzels
- Preheat oven to 350F and cover baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a bowl mix together 2 cups of whole wheat flour, 3/4 cup old fashioned oats, 1 cup unsweetened apple sauce, and half a beaten egg.
- Shape into a pretzel; form a ball, roll out into a short snake, cross the ends,
- The ends should overlap the dough just a little bit. To set the pretzel shape, press down where the ends of the dough cross.
- Place pretzels on baking sheet.
- Brush half a beaten egg across the pretzels.
- Bake for 35 – 40 minutes.
Sweet Potato Pup Treats

- Preheat oven to 350F and cover baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a bowl mix together 2 cups of whole wheat flour, 1 cup sweet potato puree, and 1 beaten egg.
- Knead mixture together. Place dough on lightly floured surface and roll out until the dough is 1/4 inch thick. Use desired cookie cutter and place on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for 20 – 25 minutes.
Peanut Butter Bacon Donuts
- Preheat oven to 375F and spray a donut pan with cooking spray.
- In a bowl mix together 1 cup whole wheat flour, 1 cup oats, 1/3 cup coconut oil, 1/4 cup peanut butter, and 2 eggs.
- Press the dough into the donut pan. The dough will not rise.
- Bake for 14 minutes.
- Allow to cool and then remove from the pan.
- In a small bowl have plain yogurt and in another small bowl cooked chopped bacon. Dip each donut in the yogurt and then sprinkle with the cooked chopped bacon.
